Ages 9-11: Grades 4-5


Students continue to expand their palettes with a variety of foods and taste experiences. Observe them, as they become more discerning about their food choices. We involve them in the whole process of planning, shopping, creating a menu, cooking and serving. We also focus on organizational skills such as ingredient preparation and ongoing kitchen cleanup. Knife skills and kitchen safety are emphasized.

Let’s get back to the basics in the kitchen! In this class, you’ll learn the basics of cooking while making recipes that aren’t so basic in taste! Try your hand at chopping potatoes safely while making a Potato Leek Soup and work on your folding technique while making Spiced Waffles. Together, we’ll put the "fun" into the fundamentals of cooking!
