Summer Vacation

Summer 2015 is here!

At long last, here are the dates, themes and links to the different programs we're offering for Summer 2015.

Every year seems to get better and better. Whether you've been with us many times or this is your first summer, we hope you love spending a week with us at CAC. Your parents will love you for it because you're going to cook some amazing food and bring it home to them!

We offer programs for two age groups. 11+ sessions run "all day" from 9:30am to 3:30pm as well as some weeks have a  half day afternoon session from 2:30 - 5:30. Our 7-10 year old programs are half day, with a morning (9:30am-12:30pm) or afternoon (2:30pm-5:30pm) option.

Summer 2015 Dates, Themes, Descriptions

Week 1 June 15 Eat Around the Globe
7-10yrs AM Session | 11+ PM Session | 11+years Full Day
Start the summer camp season with a run round the Big Blue Marble. Explore new cuisines, or revisit old favorites in a new way. This week is a celebration of culture, tradition and heritage from so many global food headquarters. Enjoy this International Festival of Flavor!

Week 2 June 22 US Food Tour
7-10yrs AM Session | 11+ (half day session from 2:30 - 5:30) | 11+ years  (9:30 - 3:30)
Grab your music, hop in the car and let’s take a road trip.  We’ll travel to the four corners of the country and dabble in a few spots in between.  Diner food, road food, regional specialties, it’s all happening right here in the driver’s seat.

Week 3 June 29 Cook the Book
7-10yrs AM Session11+ PM Session (half day session from 2:30 - 5:30) | 11+ years (9:30 - 3:30)
Our chefs will crack open their favorite cookbooks and we'll work our way through their most loved recipes. Famous chefs, classic meals, and of course... the food network chefs. (This will be a 4 day week)

Week 4 July 6 Straight from the Oven
7-10yrs AM Session | 7-10yrs PM Session | 11+ years (9:30-3:30)
Celebrate the four major components of the best baking week, flour, butter, sugar and eggs. We will be building confectionary delights, tasty treats, delights encased in dough, and delicious desserts. There will be some savory “main dish” items and plenty of the sweet life.

Week 5 July 13 Italian Family Favorites
7-10yrs AM Session | 7-10yrs PM Session | 11+ years (9:30-3:30)
Imagine the farmhouse table all set up. The platters set out Family Style and filled with handmade pasta, hearty sauces, sumptuous meats, delectable desserts and wondrous sides. From the Italian Alps all the way down to the end of the Heel of the Boot we will eat like Italians eat.

Week 6 July 20 Seasonal Summer Dinners
11+ years (9:30-3:30) NO 7-10 this week
We are so lucky to live in New England. Our Farmers’ Markets are full of locally sourced produce and meats that we will work with to create great meals all week long. Your camper will develop an interest in Farm to Fork cuisine, and may start asking you to swing by the local markets to shop all summer long.

Week 7 July 27 French Bistro
11+ years (9:30-3:30) NO 7-10 this week
Delight in the small Parisian street side cafes, the beautiful French bakeries of the countryside. This week is all about France, from the big city to the rural table.

Week 8 Aug 3 Under the Mediterranean Sun
11+ years (9:30-3:30) NO 7-10 this week
The light, delicious and healthy flavors of Mediterranean dishes will be the focus this week as we sail from port to port. Travel to far off destinations like Greece, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Spain and Turkey without ever heading to Logan Airport.

Week 9 Aug 10 La Bella Cucina
11+ years (9:30 - 3:30) NO 7-10 this week
From American cuisine inspired by the eateries of Italy to the traditional dishes of the homeland we will revel in La Bella Cucina - The Italian Kitchen. We'll prepare wonderful sandwiches, great salads, tremendous dishes which evoke the spirit of the small North End eateries we love without having to pay for parking near Hanover Street.

Week 10 Aug 17 All American Bakeshop
11+ years (9:30-3:30) NO 7-10 this week
Cookies, cakes, brownies, breads and so much more! Get your apron on and start baking up the best of American sweet treats and some savory baked goods as well. You will learn great tricks and techniques to keep you baking all year long!

Week 11 Aug 24 The Hungry Traveler
7-10yrs AM Session | 7-10yrs PM Session | 11+ years (9:30 - 3:30)
There are so many cuisines to choose from, so many dishes to try, from the street foods of Asia, to the tapas bars of Spain, the bistros of France and the taquerias in Mexico maybe some beignets in French Quarter or Cincinnati Chili.  Where will we go and what will we eat?  Join us on this food tour and be the hungry traveler.
