Q. What is the Create a Cook cancelation policy?
When you reserve one of our kitchens for an event (adult parties, team building, bachelorette parties, custom workshops), we require a 50% deposit at the time the reservation is made. The remaining payment is due 30 days prior to the event. If you cancel at least 30 days prior to the event, your full deposit will be refunded. If you cancel within 30 days of the event, all monies paid will be forfeited unless the kitchen is booked for another event.
Kid's birthday parties
When you reserve a kitchen for a birthday party we require a 50% deposit. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferrable (meaning rescheduling the event) within 30 days of the party date. We will refund or reschedule only if we can rebook the kitchen.
Summer camp weeks
When you reserve a spot in summer camp, full payment is required at the time the reservation is made. If you cancel at least 30 days prior to the start of camp, your payment will be refunded in full. If you cancel within 30 days of the start of camp, and we can fill your seat we will also refund you in full However if you cancel within 30 days and we cannot fill your seat your payment will be forfeited.
Cooking Classes, Workshops and Date Nights
When you reserve a spot for a cooking class, full payment is required at the time the reservation is made. We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover cards. If you cancel at least 14 days prior to the start of classes, your payment will be refunded in full. NOTE: No refunds, transfers, gift cards or credits will be issued for cancellations within seven calendar days of the class date. We cannot provide refunds, transfers, or makeup sessions for classes missed because of illness, job loss, personal emergencies or events beyond our control.
When you register for a class, you reserve a slot that determines how much food we buy, how many work stations we set up and the total number of students, which determines whether the class will be held.
If we cancel a class due to low enrollment, all payments and deposits will be refunded in full.
To cancel, you must notify us by phone at least seven (7) calendar days before the date of the class. You can send another person in your place or transfer to another class of your choice, based upon availability. Or we will issue a credit redeemable for another class. This option is available only if you cancel more than seven days before the scheduled class date.
For All Events or Classes
If Create a Cook must cancel a class or event due to unforeseen circumstances you will have the choice of receiving a refund or a credit for that particular day towards other offerings. If a class is canceled due to low enrollment, Create a Cook will contact the students registered and arrange a credit or a refund. If a class is canceled due to inclement weather we can't always reschedule for a date that meets all the students schedules so we will credit your Create a Cook account for the cost of the class and you can reschedule at your convenience.
Q. Do you have parking?
Yes, we have plenty of parking. But you will need to stop at the front desk upon arrival and obtain a paper parking permit to place inside your car to show you are permitted to park here. Periodically, our building management will "sweep" the lot for "unauthorized" vehicles, and we do not want you to get towed. You don't have to pay for parking, you just need to display the paper permit so you don't have to ... pay for parking with a towing charge.
Q. What should I wear to my class?
We recommend that students wear closed-toe shoes to class and to dress appropriately for a cooking environment. Open-toed shoes, and flip flops are not allowed to be worn during class. We will provide an apron during the cooking class.
Q. Are your classes hands-on?
All of the classes both for adults as well as kids at Create a Cook are hands-on cooking unless it is noted in the class description as a demo class. You will be preparing your own recipes and dishes and unless it is a party, where you will be dining here, all of the delicious food you prepare will be packed up in take out containers and sent home with you to share with your family and friends.
Q. My child has food allergies or religious dietary restrictions, can you make substitutions or omit items?
Create a Cook is not a nut free facility. Any nuts that are on site are stored in enclosed containers. All pans, pots, bowls, etc are run through our ware washing machine which reaches sanitizing temperatures during the cycle. In the classes most recipes we select allow the option of including or excluding nuts and we set up for each child accordingly. For the birthday parties NONE of the recipes include nuts.
Other food allergies or religious dietary restrictions:
We also try to accommodate children with other allergies like milk allergies, sesame, soy, etc. As long as you let the Create a Cook staff know when you register your child that there are food allergies or dietary restrictions like no pork or no shellfish we will always try to find a substitution for the student unless the recipe restricts it. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you indicate these issues when you register in the Comments/More Information field during the last step of the registration process.
